Emergency services and their partners are invited to submit for the 2020 Resilient Australia Awards. The awards promote shared responsibility for resilience and celebrate initiatives that make communities safer and better prepared for disasters and emergencies.

The emergency services sector is crucial to all phases of preparedness, response and recovery. Agencies have been consistently represented in submissions for their role in driving innovation and collaboration. Last year, the NSW Rural Fire Service won a highly commended award for ten years of their Prepare.Act.Survive campaigns, which have increased community preparedness and resilience.

The Country Fire Authority’s Survive and Thrive program have also been recognised for partnering with local primary schools to develop greater knowledge of fire risk, behaviour and management in students.

Submissions are open until 18 May in every state and territory for six categories: community, government, business, school, local government and photography. State and territory winners will be considered for national awards to be presented at a national ceremony later in the year.

Emergency services and their partners are encouraged to make a submission to the awards.

The program is proudly sponsored by the Australian Government in partnership with the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience and the states and territories.
