Ange Pestell -
South Aus­tralian Depart­ment of Envi­ron­ment and Water (DEW)

Angela Pestell is a Project Offi­cer for the South Aus­tralian Depart­ment for Envi­ron­ment and Water (DEW), where she has worked since grad­u­at­ing with an Hon­ours degree in envi­ron­men­tal man­age­ment in 2005. Ange holds a Diplo­ma of Project Man­age­ment and a Cer­tifi­cate III in both Local and State Gov­ern­ment Administration.

Ange cred­its her deep fas­ci­na­tion with land­scape fire man­age­ment to see­ing the Ash Wednes­day fires roar through the Ade­laide Hills as a young child and then observ­ing the com­plete­ly dif­fer­ent man­ner in which land­scape fires were man­aged in the North­ern Ter­ri­to­ry, where she lived for 16 years. Work­ing for DEW over the past 13 years has allowed Ange to fur­ther her inter­est and knowl­edge of man­ag­ing fire in the land­scape and indulge her love of the great out­doors. Ange also dis­cov­ered a love for fire-fight­ing when she joined DEWs Fire Brigade in 2011, and has recent­ly returned to active fire duty after being side­lined with injury in late 2014.

Ange is the cur­rent Vice Pres­i­dent of Women and Fire­fight­ing Aus­trala­sia (WAFA) after serv­ing the past three years as Board Sec­re­tary and brings a wealth of exec­u­tive gov­er­nance and project man­age­ment skills as well as a land manager’s fire man­age­ment per­spec­tive to the role. Ange has a pas­sion for improv­ing equal­i­ty for women and oth­er diverse groups in their every­day lives.

Ange lives in Ade­laide with her hus­band and son.
