Vice President
Ange Pestell -
South Australian Department of Environment and Water (DEW)
Angela Pestell is a Project Officer for the South Australian Department for Environment and Water (DEW), where she has worked since graduating with an Honours degree in environmental management in 2005. Ange holds a Diploma of Project Management and a Certificate III in both Local and State Government Administration.
Ange credits her deep fascination with landscape fire management to seeing the Ash Wednesday fires roar through the Adelaide Hills as a young child and then observing the completely different manner in which landscape fires were managed in the Northern Territory, where she lived for 16 years. Working for DEW over the past 13 years has allowed Ange to further her interest and knowledge of managing fire in the landscape and indulge her love of the great outdoors. Ange also discovered a love for fire-fighting when she joined DEWs Fire Brigade in 2011, and has recently returned to active fire duty after being sidelined with injury in late 2014.
Ange is the current Vice President of Women and Firefighting Australasia (WAFA) after serving the past three years as Board Secretary and brings a wealth of executive governance and project management skills as well as a land manager’s fire management perspective to the role. Ange has a passion for improving equality for women and other diverse groups in their everyday lives.
Ange lives in Adelaide with her husband and son.
